i have this thing about storytelling. i love a good story. i love the art of storytelling. i love a good storyteller, and i would love to be able to tell stories myself. i’m terrible with simple jokes. punch lines get mixed in with unimportant details, and key points are left out. beginning, middle and end…seems simple enough. maybe that is why i am drawn to photography…all the punch lines, the beginning, middle, and end details are all there…i don’t have to verbally explain the story. it is freeing really. all the key details are there. it’s like a puzzle. make up your own story, solve it however you want.

what is an end to a mixed up story…what is the story…is there an end? you decide.

Fast ain’t fast enough

I think this aptly describes traffic in Houston. I took this unremarkable photo as I was zooming along at 5 mph just before a wonderful rain storm. All I could do was smile because the feeling of urgency was palpable, but we were not moving. It IS nice to be cruising along, but it also felt nice knowing I could not go anywhere even if I wanted. I was mostly stopped and it was great. Seriously. Sounds cheesy, ridiculous, or whatever, but here was life giving me the time to just sit, no obligations, except for watching out for the car in front of me. I didn’t HAVE to do ANYTHING else. I could have made ‘to do’ lists, called everyone in my contacts to bitch about Houston traffic, tried to solve all my thoughts, made up stories, stressed myself out, or I could realize I was where I was supposed to be, because I could not be anywhere else.

the monster in the middle

My blog ‘monster’ in the middle of things at the moment is spam, blog spam…didn’t ever really consider this one. Suppose it makes sense if anyone can leave a comment. I appreciate the comments on the photos, but when they have to do with a combination of animals, humans, sex, viagra, cialis, levitra, lexapro, incest and some diet pills thrown in there, just to name a few, well, that’s one mix/monster I really want to stay away from. For now I think I will stick to my own monsters (devoid of the spam mix) and get this blog-thing in shape with more photos and a different layout. Some photos may appear vaguely monstrous, but I can guarantee the ingredients, and they are spam-free…however, what would a spam series look like??? Yeah, I’m not there yet…

Just a thought today…when you know something, or think you know something, does it really change anything? Why fight it? It’s just a story, like out of a book, kind of…

this is my first go at this blog thing. my brother has had this site for me for years and i figure it is time to get it going. but it does feel very alien to me. not usually one to throw out an opinion or start a conversation, or publish personal photos… so as for right now, this is my test, personally and technologically speaking. that being said, and just to be on the safe side, i am still wearing my aluminum foil hat just in case all this IS alien.

anyone out there?
